Vibe coding is the practice of building working software by describing what you want in natural language and letting AI build platforms do the technical lifting. You bring the idea, the judgment, and the taste. The platform brings the code.

Why it matters now

The barrier between having an idea and shipping it has collapsed. What used to take a team of engineers and weeks of meetings can now happen in a single afternoon, by a single person, with a clear point of view.

The skill that matters most is no longer typing syntax. It is being clear about what you want, why, and for whom. Specification, taste, and iteration are the new craft.

What it is not

  It changes what developers do. The work moves up the stack, toward judgment and design.

• It is not "no skill required."

  The skill is now specification, taste, and iteration. Different muscles, but real ones.
